Crown & Cover, 2024

This piece features a portrait of a black crappie framed by the leaves of Richardson's pondweed (Potamogeton richardsonii), muskgrass (Chara sp.) and Canada waterweed (Elodea canadensis). The work is burned on live edge cherry that has been hand selected from a local wood shop. The piece originally started as a simple "fish on wood" concept that I'm quite familiar with, but quickly morphed into something more elaborate.
